We’re in the middle of a global pandemic and, speaking as a parent coach and child development expert, I see parents struggling.
If you’re one of them, here’s the biggest piece of advice I can offer:
Give yourself permission to take a break.

So many of us feel that, with everything going on and all that is required of us – with work, with family, with the pandemic – we cannot stop.
Even for just a minute.
We even feel guilty for wishing we could stop.
(I know I have felt that way, even more so during the pandemic. If that’s where you are, huge hugs to you.)
What makes us feel better: Taking a break.
I know that’s what has worked for me. When I am better rested and have had some time to myself (even just a few minutes) everything else gets better.
I see it working for the parents that I work closely with, too!
So, that’s the best piece of advice I can offer.
Whatever it takes, grab yourself a break. Even if it means locking yourself in the bathroom or stepping outside the front door, just by yourself.
Even if it’s just for a few minutes, even just a few times a week.
