“How do we get through weeks or potentially months like this?”
We talked about looking at what is right in front of us instead of trying to know the future (this is something that I need to keep in mind, as well as anybody, so very helpful part of our talk : )
We discussed mindfulness, and I shared this app from the VA.
“I feel guilty, and overwhelmed, trying to work while leaving my young child to his own devices. What can be done about this?”
We talk about how excessive screen time, while not ideal, is absolutely fine right now. We talked about how in future years our kids will say “remember that time when I got to watch all that screen time?” It’s a blip, and it will become the stuff of memory before long.
I also gave us all permission to not feel guilty.
We are doing the best that we can, and the more guilt we feel, the less we can do our best.
